Theatre in Ukraine is undergoing a significant transformation: the voices of people with first-hand experience of war are gaining an ever-greater presence on stage. This includes not only theatre professionals who are current soldiers or veterans, but also those new to the profession — they are acquiring professional skills in playwriting, acting and directing through educational projects (the Veterans’ Theatre, the Theatre of the Unbreakable).

How can we ensure this process continues? What ethical framework should we adhere to? How do we define the ultimate goal—in the realm of art therapy or directly within the arts? In this discussion, we will seek answers by analysing specific projects and talking to practising specialists.
